Olivia is a freelance journalist and media professional who has covered travel, conservation, and science for National Geographic, Travel + Leisure, Smithsonian Magazine, Sierra, Afar, Thrillist, Atlas Obscura, Midwest Living, and more. She was named the best digital media/freelance journalist in 2026’s Ohio SPJ Awards, and received the award for best college feature writing in 2014.

Since going freelance to travel full-time in 2016, Olivia has lived in five countries and visited dozens of others. She has traveled in camper vans, on foot, by motorbike, and with a four-wheel drive topped with a tent through the New Zealand wilderness, the Australian outback, Southeast Asian jungle, the Canadian Rockies, and more.

As a copywriter, Olivia has worked with B Corps and sustainable brands such as Econyl, Icebreaker, Davines, Bright Trip, and Shuki. Past PR clients include Tourism New Zealand, Eddie Bauer, and W Hollywood.

She holds a bachelor's degree from Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
